Our History

Tachibana Painting was established in 1962 by my father, Hisayoshi Tachibana or "Tachi." He came to Hawaii from Japan to create a better life for his family. He is a descendent of the Samurai whose commitment to Honestly, Loyalty, Wisdom, and Duty permeate every aspect of his life. The company logo is our family crest and reminds us of those four principles, which are the building blocks of the company we are today.


After working for years in the service industry in Japan, my father developed a passion for creating inviting spaces. He started painting homes and businesses to share that beauty in the Honolulu area.

Who We Are Today

Our owner, James Tachibana, wanted to gain experience outside the family business and worked in various service industries but found his real passion was painting and beautifying people's homes and businesses. He returned to work with his father but has taken the company to a whole new level.

Tachibana Painting, LLC has evolved from a single painter into a corporation with experienced employees. Our employers have served both residential and commercial customers. We use only high-quality painting materials blended with our most innovative techniques and styles to create beautiful and unique spaces. Tachibana Painting works with the client by listening carefully and understanding what they want. We help clients with color selection and wall and trim combinations and have color coordinators from Sherwin Williams come into your home to apply colors to your wall to see how you like them. This is a $90.00 value that we include with every contract.
